Adding
a Host in Cute FTP™
1. To access the screen shown below, run CuteFTP
NOTE: If the Site Manager window does not appear, click
FTP->Site Manager from the menu options.
2. Click Add
Site
NOTE: This example uses the
FTP host address yourname.com.
3. Replace with your own host address to complete set up
4. After you have filled in the remaining boxes, click OK to save the settings
5. In the FTP Site Manager window, the profile you have just created should be in the list on the right
6. In the FTP profile, click the profile name and then the Connect button
Transferring Files: From your hard drive to the server
Now that you have established an FTP profile and connected to the server, it's time to transfer files. This tutorial covers only the basics of transferring files to and from the server.
1. From the FTP Site Manager window, and click connect
2. Locate the local file on your hard
drive, then use the Up Directory icon to move up a
directory
OPTIONAL: Click a folder to view
the files within it.
NOTE: Make sure you are in
the appropriate remote directory. Normally this will be /Documents
or one of its subdirectories.
3. To set the transfer mode, click
FTP->Transfer Type from the main
menu
NOTE: For HTML (text) files,
this should be set to ASCII; for binary files (Images/Programs) this
should be set to Binary. If you are not sure, use the Auto
setting.
4. Highlight the local file and click the
Upload Icon (see image #4)
NOTE: The file
will transfer and appear on the remote side.
Transferring Files: From the Server
1. To transfer from the server back to your hard drive, click the Download Icon (see #4)
NOTE: See your software's help section for further details on deleting and renaming files or creating new directories.
